Scotland's rugby player development pathway runs from grassroots clubs through regional academies (Edinburgh, Glasgow, Borders, and South of Scotland) to the professional United Rugby Championship teams and national squad. Players progress through age-grade representative rugby (U16, U18, U20) with coaching assessments at each level before potential selection for the senior national team. The Scottish Rugby Union oversees talent identification and development programs across all stages.
