The greatest Scotland rugby players of the 1990s included Gavin Hastings (captain and full-back), Craig Chalmers (fly-half), Sean Lineen (centre), and Tony Stanger (winger). Other standout performers were Gary Armstrong (scrum-half), Doddie Weir (lock), and Peter Wright (prop). This era produced Scotland's last Five Nations Grand Slam in 1990 and strong performers in the inaugural Rugby World Cup.
