Scotland's greatest centre partnerships include Gavin Hastings and Scott Hastings in the late 1980s, who combined physicality with tactical intelligence, and more recently Stuart Hogg and Matt Scott, who provided both defensive solidity and attacking flair. The Hastings brothers' partnership was particularly influential during Scotland's 1990 Grand Slam campaign. Other notable pairings include Ian McGeechan with Jim Renwick and Chris Paterson with Graeme Morrison.
