Scotland's greatest rugby centres include Jim Telfer, who captained Scotland and was renowned for his intelligence and leadership, and Ian McGeechan, a tactical mastermind who played centre before becoming an influential coach. More recently, Chris Paterson demonstrated versatility and consistency across multiple positions, while modern players like Nick Shiel have built impressive reputations. Greig Laidlaw and Stuart Hogg, though primarily other positions, occasionally played centre during their distinguished careers.
