In rugby, Scotland's team uses 15 players divided into forwards (props, hooker, locks, flankers, number 8) who contest scrums and lineouts, and backs (scrum-half, fly-half, centres, wingers, fullback) who handle the ball in open play. Forwards provide power and set-piece dominance, while backs focus on running, passing, and attacking movements. Each position has specific responsibilities: hookers throw lineouts, fly-halves direct play, and wingers score tries.
